Germination Instructions

Lotus seeds have a very hard outer shell. Carefully rub or file one end of the seed until the lighter inner layer becomes slightly visible. Do not damage the inner seed.

Place the prepared seeds in a transparent container filled with clean, lukewarm water. Keep the container in a warm, well-lit location and replace the water daily.

Once the seeds sprout and develop healthy leaves and roots, transfer them carefully into a wide container filled with heavy garden soil or aquatic planting soil.

Planting and Care

Plant the sprouted seed gently in the soil without completely burying the growing tip. Slowly add water above the soil level and place the container in an area receiving good sunlight.

Use a wide, stable and preferably hole-free container. Avoid frequent disturbance after planting, as lotus plants develop better when left undisturbed.

Maintain clean water and gradually increase the water depth as the plant becomes established.

Note: Germination, flower colour, plant size and blooming time may vary depending on seed preparation, water quality, temperature, sunlight and growing conditions. Plants grown from seed may require considerable time and care before flowering.
