Grow fresh Kala Chana, also known as black chickpeas ( Horse Gram ), in your home garden with these good-quality seeds. This traditional pulse crop produces small pods containing nutritious chickpeas that can be harvested green or allowed to mature and dry.

Desi chickpeas are best suited to a cool, dry growing season and can be cultivated in garden beds, raised beds and sufficiently large grow bags with proper sunlight and care.

Sowing Instructions

Soak the seeds in clean water for approximately 6–8 hours before sowing. Plant them around 2–3 cm deep in loose, fertile and well-draining soil.

Maintain sufficient spacing between seeds for proper root development and air circulation. Water gently after sowing and keep the soil lightly moist during germination, but avoid waterlogging.

Plant Care

Place the plants in an area receiving good sunlight. Water moderately and allow the upper layer of soil to dry slightly between watering.

Chickpea plants generally prefer relatively dry conditions once established. Add well-decomposed organic compost before sowing to support healthy growth. Avoid excessive nitrogen-rich fertilisers, which may encourage foliage instead of pod development.

100 High Yield Black Chickpeas / Kala Chana seeds.

Note: Germination, plant growth, pod formation, yield and harvesting time may vary depending on climate, soil conditions, seed handling and growing care.
