Grow rose-like, layered blooms in your winter garden with Ranunculus, also known as Persian Buttercup. Each bulb produces lush green foliage and multiple stems topped with full, many-petalled flowers that look like small roses or peonies.

This mixed-colour set brings a vibrant variety of shades, which may include red, pink, white, yellow, orange and bi-colours. Ranunculus grows well in pots, grow bags and garden beds, and is a florist's favourite for bouquets, wedding décor and long-lasting vase arrangements.

Planting Instructions

Ranunculus bulbs look like small, dry claws. Before planting, soak them in room-temperature water for 3–4 hours until they plump up. Do not soak longer than this.

Plant the bulbs approximately 4–5 cm deep with the claws pointing downward, in loose, fertile and well-draining soil. Space them about 10–15 cm apart. A 10–12 inch pot can hold 3 bulbs.

Water once after planting, then water lightly only when the top soil feels dry until shoots appear, usually in 2–3 weeks. Ranunculus bulbs rot easily in wet soil, so good drainage is essential.

Light and Water Requirements

Ranunculus needs full sunlight, ideally 6 hours of direct sun daily, and grows best in cool weather.

Once leaves are established, keep the soil moderately moist during active growth and flowering, but never waterlogged.

Plant Care

Add well-decomposed compost or a balanced flowering-plant fertiliser every 2–3 weeks once the plants are growing well. Flowering usually begins about 90 days after planting.

For vases, cut the stems when the buds are coloured and soft like a marshmallow; they will open fully indoors. Regular cutting encourages more blooms. After flowering, let the leaves turn yellow naturally, then lift the bulbs, dry them in shade and store them in a cool, dry place.

Package Includes:
5 Ranunculus mixed-colour bulbs.

Note: Flower colours are assorted and cannot be selected. Bulb size, plant height, flower colour, number of blooms and blooming time may vary depending on bulb maturity, climate, season, sunlight, soil conditions and growing care. Product images show mature flowering plants for reference.
